How Gold Carbon Was Founded

Gold Carbon: Smart Moves, Smart Living

Gold Carbon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that transforms parks and trails into safe, accessible, and technologically-enhanced spaces for everyone. We believe that parks and trails are essential components of a healthy community, providing a place to relax, exercise, and connect with nature.

We were inspired to start Gold Carbon after noticing the lack of modern, well-designed parks and trails in Newton County, Georgia. We want to create spaces where children, parents, older adults, and recreational users of all abilities can come together and enjoy the outdoors.

Our mission is to make parks and trails more welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. We do this by designing and renovating spaces with a focus on accessibility, safety, and technology. We also work to educate the community about the importance of parks and trails and how to use them safely.

Founder/CEO

Cacey is an accomplished entrepreneur and network engineer with over 10 years of experience. In addition to his successful networking company, which has installed networks for major hotel chains across the country, Cacey has a profound passion for community engagement and environmental conservation. He combines his engineering expertise with his love for nature to create a positive impact in his community. Cacey thrives on meeting new people and is deeply committed to preserving and improving the environment that surrounds him.

Sedona Mitchell

Executive Director

Sedona brings expertise in organizational and administrative tasks, making sure that meetings are well-documented and minutes are taken accurately. Her strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks will ensure that the board's communications are professional and efficient. Past experience as event manager for Rotary and Kiwanis clubs have honed Sedona's skills in project management and coordination, ensuring smooth and successful events. Her experience and passion for serving the community will have a positive impact.

Nicholas Smith

Nicholas is a versatile entrepreneur who specializes in finding solutions while building valuable relationships. A North Carolina-native and a proud father of two, he transitioned to Georgia in 1990 where he began his professional career. Nick established his own property preservation business for bank foreclosures. This initiative incited him to fully pursue entrepreneurship. Since then, Nick has established a ‘fix and flip’ business known as First Source Property Funding and a wholesale operation. In addition, he also gained experience working in the multifamily space.
